PRP Injections could solve or dramatically improve muscle or tendon injury.
PRP is;
What is PRP ?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment is using patients’ blood platelets to stimulate healing in injured or degenerative tissue. Think of it like this, blood is essential for all parts of our body, blood contains nutrients that help repair damage.
When we injure ourselves, blood is pushed to that area to stimulate repairs. In some areas, such as your tendons, the blood flow is very poor. By simply extracting the blood, separating the nutrients, we can directly inject the area of damage. Therefore, completely by passing the areas that slow down the healing process. (Eliminating the middle man of delivery… so to speak)
Typically, we recommend a series of 3 injections for an injured area. These tend to be 2 weeks apart.
This section typically applies if you suffer from chronic tendonitis.
Treating tendonitis can be tedious. It requires 5 steps to return the tendon back to normal function.
Blood platelet cells contain granules rich in bioactive growth factors (GFs), proteins and cytokines. These together with other extracellular plasma proteins and cytokines, initiate and regulate tissue repair. This is a complex process involving multiple cells and cell signaling. Some of the important GFs include
When the skin sustains a cut, platelets release clotting factors to stop the bleeding while at the same time releasing GFs to repair the injured tissues. GFs stimulate healing whether it be making new capillaries, attracting mesenchymal stem cells to the injured area, repairing nerves or forming collagen to repair muscle, tendon, skin and chondral tissue.
